Everything changes, over a period! Life begins, soars, and ends.  The weather changes, bringing bounty or destruction. Businesses commence – touch heights, survive setbacks, or falls out to the competition.

Eventualities are routine

When there is a high, there is also low.  Hence, the wise always prepare themselves for situations or eventualities by taking certain steps. Some examples:

1.Teachers preparing students for exams;

2. Ingredients readied by cooks for the feast;

3. Prevention is better than cure is followed seriously by the health-conscious

4. Planning for the future is done by Companies

The need to be prepared

There is no end to the probability of situations that may arise in the future.  Some of these may lead to negative results even. In such a scenario, being prepared can help you correct the wrong or handle it without being affected by it. Some such scenarios are that you may face

The tough project at work

A family crisis

Preparing for an interview

Public performance

Camping or an outstation tour

Loss of a close family member

attack by aliens(a hypothetical situation), in which case keep a survival kit ready

How to prepare yourself for all types of situations

Here are some methods that can help you face any situation

Be positive

Always have a positive state of mind.  Focus on positives but also be ready to learn from the adverse outcomes.

Learn from these experiences to be stoic and not get upset or anxious quickly when you divert your focus and attention on positive aspects than you will see the best aspects of a situation.  When you see the better aspects, you will have the confidence to negate or use that situation in your favor.  When you are concentrating on negative aspects, you will only be left with disappointment and stress that will block your progress.

Develop the right mindset.  Whatever the situation, learn to accept and move forward. Life is ever-changing. This change can help you learn and grow. Understand that external details keep altering. You cannot control external events but can change the way you respond to them.

Internal events are what you should be worried about. Keep yourself strong. Save yourself from the depths of depression due to untoward situations by remembering that you can come out of the situation soon.  Do adopt philosophical doctrines if you find them helping you positively.

One easy way to learn to deal with situations is by pulling out a page from your daily life. There is chaos every day, but we know to deal with it by now.  Example:

If there is no milk in the fridge, you make do with some juice for breakfast.

If you miss 7.45 a.m. bus for the work, then you try to catch the 8.00 a.m. bus

Keep your finances in order.

Save for a rainy day.  There is a lot of truth in that statement.  You can face any eventualities, especially health issues or losses in business or funds for a new enterprise if you maintain some savings.

Start setting your finances right by first clearing your existing debts.  Start paying back today, even if in small payments.  Complete paying as quickly as possible so that you are debt-free when an eventuality occurs.

Next, turn your focus and attention towards saving.  Plan how to reduce spending and increase savings

Keep an emergency fund ready so that you need not approach others for financial help when needed.

Health

Another important way to be prepared for all types of situations is to be fit and healthy because if your health goes down and the issue becomes complicated.

For example, if you have high blood pressure and you experience a severe business loss, your problems increase two-fold. The blood pressure will rise higher, and you will be incapable of amicably solving the business problem.  So, to keep fit, eat wholesome food, avoid processed foods, and exercise daily or take to walking for a few minutes.

Practice mindfulness

Being mindful means

to focus on the present moment,

Understanding your thoughts, feelings, and sensations such as breathing

Mindfulness can help you focus on the present and accept it non-judgmentally.  This way, you have a new outlook towards an eventuality, and so you can find new solutions with a broad mind.

Mindfulness can reduce stress levels and increase overall happiness even in cases of eventualities.  Some steps to practice mindfulness…

Focus on your breath every day in the morning

Notice how your body reacts to external situations

If you anxious or angry release hold of those emotions and move on

Accept situations and respond to them in an appropriate manner

Preparing for an expected or unexpected situation

We are sure of the occurrence of certain situations.  However, others take us by surprise.   Here is how you can prepare for both of them…

Expected situation

Familiar situations are ones that you anticipate.

For example, you are aware of a fast-approaching exam.  You can prepare for this by revising the syllabus for that exam thoroughly.

To be ready…

Think about potential situations.

Find the antecedents meaning the reason that could cause the expected situation. Deduce how you will be affected by it.

Determine how you should deal with it in the form of an actionable plan. Practice the actionable plan beforehand so that you are ready for the eventuality.

Here is how you can prepare for specific situations

If you have to attend a meeting …

Research for data relevant to the meeting

Discuss with your team on all dimensions of the meeting

Get a speech ready by familiarizing with the topic

Check again if everything is in order

For an exam that adheres to a syllabus…

Make a time table

Revise

Practice previous year papers

Clear doubts with teachers/students

For Physical task  – Build muscle, practice.

Mental task  – Use memory, general knowledge, books, experience, etc. to be prepared

For Natural vagaries and emergencies

If you are living in areas prone to weather fads, you need to be prepared in the following ways:

Keep your kitchen stocked

Prepare for the season

Keep an ICE contact – In case of Emergency.

Survival skills – In Google, find ways to survive in different situations like earthquakes, floods, food shortages, accidents, etc.

Unexpected situation

Unexpected situations are tough to guess.  They may be positive or negative outcomes of a situation.

For example, we may not predict a natural calamity or a loss of a dear one or a market trend that may cause heavy losses.

Sometimes situations can be the opposite.  There may be opportunities that you should exploit quickly.

Here are some hints to be prepared for unexpected situations …

Anticipate situations, market trends, etc. be prepared for both business opportunities or losses

Seek information and advice from seniors and well-wishers to know how they dealt with situations earlier.

Read books, magazines, etc. and understand what may be in store economy-wise, political-wise, etc. Prepare yourself accordingly

Be prepared to learn through pitfalls.

Be positive at all times

Take Life or product Insurance as you deem fit.

Professional help

The times we now live in are highly stressful.  This stress affects health, sleep, productivity, and personal relations.  It would be a good idea; hence, to visit a therapist before the stress shadows your life and causes severe harm.  You can visit a therapist once a year to be precautious.

Conclusion:

Being prepared is the best way to mitigate any eventuality.  For foreseen situations, you can use your experience and advice of others to be ready.  For unforeseen eventualities, you should guess or cover using Insurance.

Whatever be the outcome of a situation, one should keep calm, be positive, be financially sound, and practice mindfulness.  In case you are not able to handle it yourself, it is better to seek the help of a professional person to do so.
